Biography

Ta.Lze short for Tai Belize is the creative name of Ivy who was seriously in the New York theater and dance scene of the 1970s. Her plays were produced by the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop, Woody King's New Federal Theater, and Ellen Stewart's LaMaMa ETC. She studied writing at NEC, Shakespeare Festival writers workshops. Her play "Run'ers directed by Novella Nelson won two Audelco Awards. She danced with the Laura Foreman Dance Troupe, and studied at the New Dance Group Theater with the likes of Merce Cunningham, Sophie Maslow, and performed with Twyla Tharpe’s group in Central Park one hot July. Then there was jazz with Thelma Hill and Pepsi Bethel at the 8th Avenue Y. Glory days.

She took classes at the School of Visual Arts and Studio Museum of Harlem. She exhibits regularly with the TALOB an East Bay art group.

She presently resides in Richmond, Virginia after spending 1/3 of her life in Oakland, California. Studied law and wrote a novel
